Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter returned to DP World Tour competition at the DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links, according to BBC Sport Golf, marking their first appearance on the circuit in almost four years.

The BBC Sport Golf report said the former Ryder Cup teammates were back in action at the event while attention around the tournament also focused on Matt Fitzpatrick’s bid for a fifth win of the year and Robert MacIntyre’s reaction to a drone.

Westwood and Poulter were long-time Ryder Cup teammates for Europe, and their return to a DP World Tour event makes them part of a field that drew wider interest on the opening day of the Alfred Dunhill Links.
