Scotland’s top-ranked golfer Robert MacIntyre has called for The Open to return more regularly to Carnoustie and Muirfield, according to BBC Sport Golf.

BBC Sport reported that MacIntyre wants both historic venues to be used on a regular basis as part of the championship rota. Carnoustie and Muirfield are among Scotland’s best-known Open hosts, and MacIntyre’s comments centre on bringing the tournament back to those courses more often.

The remarks come from an interview reported by BBC Sport Golf on 30 September 2026.
